Try to put together a list of the Top 5 Don't-Miss events in the Lowcountry and it's time for some serious thought because there are so many to choose from. There are the expected choices but here are some of Charleston's favorite events.
Charleston Fashion Week
While this is a larger-scale event, it still deserves a mention. Seeing what the Emerging Designer contestants come up with is always a thrill, and it's fun to people-watch. Some of the best-dressed folks in the area go all out, so even just walking by is a win.
The American College of the Building Arts' annual Red Party is always a spectacle. Each year has a different theme: last year was The Great Gatsby and the year before The Wizard of Oz. And everyone goes all out, including attendees in costume.
Lowcountry Chefs' Feast
Chefs' Feast, a black-tie optional event led by chef Robert Carter, features some of the area's top chefs dishing out signature dishes. In addition to some amazing food, the event benefits the Lowcountry Food Bank, Kids Cafe and BackPack Buddies.
The Chocolate Affair
The annual Chocolate Affair is a sweets lover's dream. With some of Charleston's finest restaurants and specialty shops offering up gourmet catering and chocolate desserts, no one should be leaving hungry after attending this gala, auction and competition supporting Communities in Schools.
Grape Stomp Festival
Who doesn't love Lucy? The highlight of the Grape Stomp Festival is the Lucy Look-A-Like Contest, where "I Love Lucy" fans are asked to don their best Lucy costume and re-enact the famous 1956 episode where Lucy takes a job in a vineyard.
